How to Complain to Delta Air Lines

Follow these instructions to file a complaint with Delta Air Lines.

To give feedback or file a complaint with Delta Air Lines using the company's website, go to the online Help Center and select the option for leaving comments and complaints. Logging into your Delta SkyMiles acount might speed the process along.

Be sure to have your flight information, including confirmation number and flight number, available along with checked luggage info if applicable.

To file a general complaint, which basically means any issue other than a baggage claim, select "Submit General Feedback" and follow the prompts to describe your issue. You'll be given a case number and a customer service rep should get back to you.

Later, you can check on the status of your complaint by going to the same page where you chose the feedback form and clicking "Check General Feedback Case Status." You'll need to enter your last name and case number.

To file a baggage claim for lost, damaged, or delayed luggage, you'll need to fill out a separate online form.

As with general feedback, you should be given a case number in order to keep track of the status of your complaint.

You can also message Delta directly by clicking the chat box on the Help Center page or choosing the "Message Us" option in the Delta mobile app.

To speak with a Delta customer service rep by phone about a new or existing reservation, call 800/221-1212. Calls are accepted 24/7, but don't be surprised if your wait time to speak with someone is eternal.

Delta's phone number for baggage issues is 800/325-8224. That line is operated from 6am to midnight ET, 7 days a week.

To mail in a complaint (or—why not?—a compliment) after travel, send correspondence to this address:

Delta Air Lines, Inc.
Customer Care
P.O. Box 20980
Department 980
Atlanta, GA 30320-2980

Note that if you booked your flight through a third-party service, such as an online travel agency, you should contact that third party, not Delta, to make a change or cancellation.

To complain to or about Delta on social media, go to the company's Facebook page or tag the carrier @Delta on Twitter

If the company is unable to resolve your complaint to your satisfaction and you'd like to escalate the matter by filing a complaint against the airline with the U.S. government, follow our step-by-step instructions for doing that
